Lindy hop is a fantastic dance that many people use to add depth and expand their options on the dance floor. From the Savoy Ballroom to today, the dance has captured the hearts of people who love the sounds of big band music and jazz combos, want to express their individuality while dancing, and love the dance’s playful nature. This workshop is perfect for people who want to capture this magic!
Each CDWU Lindy Hop workshop is different, though each covers and expands on the basics of Lindy Hop, giving you the information, connections, and movements you need to expand your knowledge. This workshop will cover the six count basic, the swingout, some turns, and some wonderful styling you can put into your dancing.
Detailed Workshop Information:
This Lindy Hop Workshop is a 3-hour, detailed workshop that covers a full progression into and out of the lindy hop swingout, plus covers turns, styling, and more. Knowing how and why all of the pieces of a swingout and related turns fit together helps students learn and retain the information, and this course provides a solid base for people who want to refresh their skills, get more detail, or learn lindy hop for the first time.
This is a detailed workshop imparting a lot of information about how the pieces of lindy hop can fit together, presented in a way that fosters a long-term understanding of concepts related to the exchange of momentum, turning, lead/follow connection, and how the flow of the dance works.
Instructor Bio:
Paul Carryer is one of the instructors for the workshop, with over 15 years of experience instructing. He brings a passion for the playful nature dance, combined with a drive to continue to improve his dancing and the dancing of those he teaches. Paul has taught and DJed at numerous regional events, including headlining all-weekend workshops in Ohio, New York, and Indiana, and DJing at events like the Dayton Smackdown, AHLC, Liberty Blues, and many others. He is excited to share his knowledge with the Ann Arbor community.
